custom built in cupboards

hello, and welcome to the far cry 4 map editortutorial for consoles! so, this is our main menu.you can see over here on the right side, on chronicles, we have battles of kyrat, whichis multiplayer. we have map browser, map editor, and keysto kyrat. i’m just going to select map editor andgo in there. here we can see our basic map editor options.we have four options to create a new map. we’ve got assault, hunt (which is killinganimals), we have our outpost (which is like a basic outpost from in game), and we haveextraction (which tasks the player to reach a specified location).then, over here under local maps, we have

all my maps (which will show you all the mapsyou have created) and then downloaded maps (which are maps that other people have createdand you have downloaded). i’m just going to jump over here to outpostand select it. here we can pick our different terrain types.there’s an empty map, which is blank, that you can do whatever you want with.we also have some mountains, shangri-la mountains, regular island, and the shangri-la island.i’m going to select mountains to start with. here we are in our freshly generated mountainmap. the first thing i’m going to talk aboutare the camera controls. using the left stick, i can pan the cameraaround to the left and to the right,

as well as zoom in and out.by using the right stick, i’m able to tilt and turn the camera around.by holding down the r1 button, i’m able move the camera up and down using the left stick. all right, with basic camera movement outof the way, let’s talk about manipulating the terrain.i’m going to open my little toolbox here by hitting the l1 button.we’ve got some different options here on the first level.we’ve got terrain, add gameplay objects, add new objects, and add ai.i’ll go into each of these later, but first let’s go with terrain.we’ve got our terrain tools and i’m going

to select that and i’m going to grab theflatten tool. now, with this tool selected, you see you’vegot this menu here on the left. i can select different options in the menuwith the up and down directional buttons, and i can manipulate those options using leftand right if i want to change the radius or speed or anything like that.the way flatten works is that it will just take the center of your flatten circle andmake all of the terrain that height. now, if i click down and hold the r3 button, you’ll see that it gives me some different options down here at the bottom of the screenrelating to the directional buttons. so, if i push left, it will undo the lastthing we did, which was to flatten all of

our terrain there.letting go of the r3 button returns everything to normal, and we still have our flatten toolselected, so i’m just going to go in here and flatten out this area.this really helps to make it an easier surface to work with.you don’t have to worry about buildings being on weird tilts or objects sinking intothe ground or popping up. a nice, flat area is just a really good thingto start with, so let’s just get that all taken care of.you’ll notice that as i flatten the terrain here that the vegetation actually moves withthe terrain to compensate for the movement. you don’t need to worry about replacingthe vegetation on anything that you already

had in place once you start manipulating theterrain. with our area all flattened out, it’s timeto get rid of these sharp cliff edges. i’m just going to hit the l1 button againto return to my toolbox, and i’m going to go down here and grab the smooth tool.here it is. once again, we’ve got a circle.using the directional buttons, i can select options from the menu on the left if i wantto. if i run the smooth tool here along theseedges, you can see that it smooths out these harsh, sharp cliffs that we have as a resultof the flattening that we did previously. it just makes the area look a little morenormal, a little more natural, and it doesn’t

seem quite so manufactured.all right, we’re all set. with our area all set up and ready to go,it’s about time we started placing some objects.i’m going to open up the toolbox again with the l1 button.you can go back through the levels, so we’ll go back to the top.this time we’ll select add new objects. on the left you will see the new menu thatyou can manipulate with the directional buttons. you’ve got a top level of some differenttypes of objects we can add. i’m just going to grab the structures hereand something simple down here. this is an easy little guy.the object that i’m placing simply follows

the reticle at the center of the screen.whether you’re panning or zooming, the object will always stay in the center.we’ll just place that down here and grab another one.something different, this looks good! you can hold down the r2 button if you wantto rotate that object and put it in the position you want.i can use the left stick here and turn it around.there we go, that’s a bit better. i’ll just put it in position here and dropit in place. we’ve got a couple small buildings, so let’sgo in here and look at some large buildings. let’s grab a nice, easy one here, and we’ll just go ahead and put him down

here.let’s go back out to our different structures. let’s go into our stairs and building add-ons.here we’ve got a shelter or shack-like thing. let’s just put that in as well.let’s go back out and go into objects this time.let’s grab some of these flags, clothes, and carpets.scroll down and find a nice, simple one. here’s a nice animated prayer flag.let’s just hang it here from the porch of this building.nice and easy… you can see that it aligns nicely with theobjects already in place. there it is. it animates and everything.let’s back out of here.

let’s get all the way out of our toolboxand use our default tool called the picker. it’s represented by the reticle in the middleof the screen. if i bring it over an object that i’ve alreadyplaced, the reticle turns red and we see the bounding box appear around the object we’veselected. i’ll check each one and you can see thateach has its own box. if i hit the x button while i’m over anobject, i’m able to move it. you can see that it moves in the same manneras when we we’re placing it. it just stays in the center of the screen.again, i can hold down the r2 button and rotate the object in place.that’s good for that one.

let’s grab this one here too and give ita bit of an adjustment. give it a bit of a twist.alright, cool. there we go.another thing we need, since this is an outpost… we should place in our alarm, the thing that the npcs will use to summon their allies.we’ll go over here to gameplay objects and select that.you’ll see that there’s a couple objects in here, including our outpost alarm.let’s find a good spot for that. how about over here by these stairs? we’lljust give it a bit of a rotation here so that the horns are facing the right way, and therewe go! we’ll put it in place.

another thing we have here in gameplay objectsis our player spawn point, which is exactly what it sounds like –the position where the player will spawn when your start your map.let’s put it up here, give them a nice little overlook when they start the map, a nice littlespace for them. we’ll rotate it and make sure that the playeris facing in the right direction when the map starts.we’ll drop it right there. perfect! we’ve got a nice little overlook for theplayer that looks out across our entire map. now, we have our outpost laid out, but wedon’t have any enemies. let’s go into our toolbox, go into add aiand see

we’ve got different options here.we’ve got wave 1, our reinforcements, which are the enemies that will show up when thealarm is rung, and then the remaining waves, which will come as we kill the reinforcements.we also have allies and animation points. just grab wave 1 here. again, i can use thedirectional buttons to select things in the menu on the left.we’ll just start with this assaulter here. we’ll just put him on the porch up top.we’ll switch over now to the beheader and we’ll just put him down over here, and switch up one more time to our berserker. do we want him on the roof, maybe? maybe overhere? yeah, let’s put him up on the roof. all right, there we go. this will be our wave 1 set of

enemies.back to the toolbox and grab our reinforcements. see? we have the same options on the left, same enemies. you’ll see that now the enemy is representedby this gray mannequin, which just means that it won’t be therewhen the map starts but will spawn at the appropriate time, which for these guys iswhen the alarm is rung. let’s put him over here in the woods sothat they have to approach the outpost once the alarm has been rung.it will also kind of hide their spawn so that the player doesn’t see them pop in sincethey’re all out here in the woods. let’s put some variety here, a couple differenttypes of enemies.

make sure to rotate them so that they comein facing the right direction. all right, there we go. we’ve got buildings, we’ve got enemies,we’ve got an alarm, we’ve got a spawn point.looks like things are all right! i’m just going to open up the options menu, and just at the top left there is play. i’ll just select that and here we are insideour map. you can see that we’ve spawned on our spawnpoint. if i bring up my camera here, you can seethe enemies that we placed are right where they belong.that’s all good stuff.

let’s just run on down there and get a closerlook, swoop in with our wingsuit here… yep, everything looks in order.well, our outpost now is pretty basic, so let’s go ahead and start adding somemore flourishes. let’s start with vehicles.let’s go down here to add new objects, you can see vehicles here, number five, and then we’ll set the mobile ones, which means that these are vehicles that the playeror the ai can drive. lots of different vehicles in here, let’s just grab this little van here. we can place that with the x button.go down here. how about one of these jeeps with the mountedmachine gun? these ones are pretty good, so

there we go.once again, we can just place by pressing the x button.if you want more, you can just keep pressing the x button and keep getting jeeps.i think that’s enough for now. now we should kind of talk about selectingthe objects. you can select multiple objects at a timeby pressing the r2 button. you see if i highlight this object and i pressthe r2 button, the bounding box around it turns red, which means that it’s part of a group selection. i can now add to that group selection by highlightingobjects and just pressing the r2 button and they become part of that group.when i hit the x button, that group is now

selectedand they can be moved like any normal object. i can delete them here by just pressing thetriangle button. now the whole group is gone.we’ll just undo that to bring them back. another way that you can do a group selectionis when you’re holding down the r2 button, you can move the stick and select more orfewer objects. you can see that the bounding box changesand surrounds the objects that we have selected. again, just press the x button to actuallygrab them. you can move them as normal, and delete them with the triangle button.we’ll just undo that again one more time. get those jeeps back. there we go.now, one final thing we can also do is delete

all of the same object type.so, if you have an object selected and you hit the square button, you’ll see that weget delete similar objects as an option. select that, confirm, and there you go. alljeeps are now gone. we do want at least one of our jeeps here,so we’ll just undo that again, get them all back,do a quick group selection here, get these three selected, and just get rid of them.there we go. now we just have our van and our jeep.let’s bring the van in a little closer here. just do another group selection to grab themboth at once, and let’s bring them over here into ourgarage.

let’s bring the camera a little closer andget these vehicles in there. all right, there we go.again, as with any singular object, using the r2 button we can rotate our group here.it rotates around the middle. just make sure that these vehicles are facingout of the garage, that way if any of the npcs or the playerwants to grab them, they can just hop in and start driving and they don’t have to worryabout going backward or reversing out of the garage.all right, so our vehicles are in place. let’s go ahead and add in some more interestingstuff. let’s add some cover and some other objectsto fill out the map.

this time we’ll grab objects from our menuand we’ll go to containers and crates and we’ll just start here with our animal cage.now if you want, you can press the l2 button and that’s going to add the object to themap and select it right away so that you can continue to manipulate it, like so.now you can see that i no longer have the objects menu up, but i do have this objectgrabbed. i can move it, rotate it, and everything justas normal, so let’s place that guy right there.all right, all set. you see now that i’ve done that, i no longerhave the objects menu open. let’s just go back into here. we’ll getcontainers and crates again, and let’s just

put some different cover objects around herefor the player to use. we’ve got some boxes here. let me drop thatthere. let’s get something else, some different kinds of boxes.they can go under the stairs to fill out that area a little bit.let’s see what else we’ve got here that we can offer.here we go, maybe one of these pallets of drugs.we’ll put one over here by this other building, then switch up to this other pallet of drugs, and we can put that there and then maybe something over here, as well.let’s see what else we can use. yeah, here we go. we’ve got some sandbags.this will do nicely.

i’ll just give this a little adjustment, maybe rotate that. yeah, there we go.that’s a little better. just put that in place.all right, let’s back out now to our selection tool and we’ll just tweak each of thesecover objects now that we have them roughly placed where we want.we’ll just give this guy a bit of a twist, a minor adjustment there.go over here to our pallets of drugs. we’ll grab our first one, give it a bitof a twist, and move it nice and close to the building there.that’s pretty good right there. all right, now we’ll grab the last one here.again, a little bit of rotation

makes them look a little less rigid and placedon a grid. drop them right there. all right, we’re all set.we’ve got a pretty big open space out here now in front of our outpost, so let’s goand add some more natural objects here. we’ll go into nature and we’ll grab somerocks. there’s lots and lots of different rocks to choose from, all kinds of differentsizes. find some slightly smaller rocks, not quite so gargantuan in size.this one’s all right. we’ll just drop this guy down over hereand get something new. there we go, that’s a nice one. put it somewhere over here, giveit a bit of a twist once again with the r2 button to get it how we want it.all right, there we go.

i think that’s all we really need for rocks.now we can also add in some explosive objects that will make this whole thing a little moreexciting. once again, let’s return to add new objectsand go into objects. see there that number six is explosive props.we’ll grab the second one here, the red explosive barrel, and we’ll just go in hereand place a couple of these around the map. they can just be a cool thing to have in there, and if they get struck during a firefight, they’ll explode just to make things a littlemore interesting, a little more dynamic. it’s good stuff.now we’ll place this last one here and we’ll put it up on the balcony here on this building.i’ll tell you why here in just a second.

so, that’s pretty good. we’ll just giveit a little bit of a twist here and i’m just going to drop it with the l2 button sothat i have it grabbed now. you’ll see that since i placed it up highon this balcony, that as i move it around, it does stay in the center of the reticle, like normal objects, but it’s staying at that same height and it doesn’t drop downto the ground or anything like that. we’ll talk about that option here in a second.we’ll get this a little closer to the building, and so now, by holding down the r1 button,i can now use the left stick to bring this object up or down.if you want to specify the height or something, you can do that, and you can see here on theleft that i can push down on the directional

buttons and it will drop it right down tothe surface below. in that case the roof, but over here you cansee it will drop all the way down to the terrain underneath.i’ll lift it up again, bring it over here to our balcony, and drop it down on there.so yeah, it’ll just snap itself down to whatever the closest surface is down below.all right, we’ll put that right there, and now you can see that i can push right on thedirectional buttons and that will duplicate the object and i will have the duplicate herein hand. also, you can see here that i can push lefton the directional buttons to activate this follow terrain.that means now as i move this object around,

it will follow the surfaces so it will moveup or down as it hits different objects. if i push that again, i’ve now returnedto normal movement where it will no longer follow the terrain but will instead just movealong these axis. i’ll just get this guy here inside the building.all right, so now we’ve got cover, explosives, and enemies. it’s time to do some weapons.i’ll go down to add new objects and you’ll see that number six here is weapons. i’mgoing to start with some turrets. we have a couple different kinds of turrets.we’ve got this one here on the tripod, and both the player and the ai can make use ofthese turrets, so it’s good to make sure they are easily accessible.i’ll put one of these machine guns here,

and let’s do another one here on the roof.we’ll actually use the other kind of turret we have, which is this one here without thetripod, so it’s meant to placed on top of another object, like cover boxes, or thishere building ledge. we’re just going to fine-tune the positionhere a little bit, make sure it’s down on the ledge and not sunk in too far. all right, there we go. that’s looking pretty good.excellent! all right. we can place some pickup weapons as well,so go back into weapons and this time into number two weapons and we’ll go down. let’ssee what we’ve got. we’ve got this sawed-off, double-barreled shotgun, so we’ll drop thisguy down here on top of this barrel.

all right, so you’ll see it’s not toonatural of a position right now. it’s not how a gun would normally lay. you can seeby holding down the r2 button and tapping the l2 button, i actually switch between whichaxis i want to rotate on. here i go. we’ll just rotate this so thatit’s more of a natural, laying down position that this gun would actually be in.just do a little bit of fine-tuning here. make sure it’s not sunk in or floating toohigh. still a little deep... all right, there we go.that’ll do for us for now. all right, so let’s head over here and we’llplace a pickup-able gun. we’ll grab, let’s see, we’ve got thea52 here, that’s a pretty cool assault rifle.

we’ll put the gun down here. let’s makeit look like it’s leaning up against our pallet of drugs here.so, by holding down the r2 button, i go into rotate mode, and then tapping the l2 buttonlets me switch which axis i’m rotating on. so we’ll just rotate it up like that, andadjust its position here a little bit. that’s good enough for now.so now we have that gun. it looks like it’s leaning up against the pallet. it’s justwhat we want. all right, so we’ve got guns. it’s timefor some ammo and some pickups, so we’ll go here into the folder of thesame name. we’ll start out with our ammo pile here which can be used by the playermultiple times to gather up some ammo, and

it also explodes when it’s shot, so that’spretty cool. we definitely want one of those in here.we’ll go over here now to the body armor, always a good thing to have. let’s giveit a little tweak here. rotate it a bit. there we go.now we’ll switch here to health pack, another good thing that you want to have in your map.keep your players alive. let’s put this one over here on the otherside, maybe up here on the roof. we’ll drop this down.ok, here we’ve got our small ammo, which is ammunition used by regular weapons likeshotguns, machine guns, and assault rifles, that kind of thing.all right,

there you go.we’ve got some ammunition in place, and that’s good!all right, so now we’ve got all that in place, but we’ve probably got a little problemgoing on over here. we have this guy over here on this rooftop, but there’s actually no way for him to get off of this rooftop, or for the player toget on to it for that matter, so let’s add in a ladder and a ledge.those are two different methods of allowing both the player and ai to get up.we’ll go add new objects. here we’ve got climbing and navigation, here at number four.we’ll grab that and we’ll start with a ladder.we’ll do this 10-step one, pretty much exactly

what we’re looking for.we’ll just make sure that we rotate it into place. make sure the steps are on the outsideof the ladder. we want it facing the right way. we’ll just tuck it in nice and closeto the building for now. all right, now let’s go down to the ledgesand let’s grab one of these here ledges and we’ll put it over here on the otheropening, on the other side. again, make sure it’s facing the right direction.just do some fine adjustments here, get it into place, give it a little more of a tweakhere. all right, there we go. we’ll leave it just like that.perfect, so now we’ve got a couple of different methods for both the player and the ai toget up onto this rooftop.

this ladder really doesn’t look that greatright here with it merged into this ledge, so i’m just going to check here in our validation.this is going to tell you anything that’s wrong with your map right now.so, we’ve got a list here and you can see that the mounted weapon area is not clear.so, if i hit the x button while i have this option selected,i will be brought right to the offending object, which is our gun turret here.so, apparently it’s not clear and needs a little bit of adjusting.we’ll try bringing it up a bit. let’s see here... it seems ok for height. let’scheck it again. so, it’s still not clear, so we’ll grabit one more time, and this time let’s pull

it back some.let’s give it some more space in the rear. there we go, all good.let’s check it one more time, and there we go.the message is no longer there, so our gun is in the right place.now, while the ladder did pass validation, meaning that it’s usable, it still doesn’tlook too great with it merged in like that. so, let’s just grab it and give it a nicelittle pull out, like that, and there we go.now let’s take a look at our explore option here.so, explore is a little different than play, and now rather than spawning on your spawnpoint and playing as normal, you will instead

spawn in your current camera position, aswell as by default, you will be both invisible to enemies and invulnerable to any form ofdamage. let’s just jump in here.you’ll see i just spawned right where my camera was, and if i go up here, you’llsee that the enemy does not respond to me in any way.this is a good way to just make sure that your map is looking how you want it to lookwithout having to deal with any enemies that you’ve placed.also, in this mode, the map will not end, so even if you kill everyone in the map, youwill not complete it, and if you have a timer or any other kind of fail condition, thosewill not be triggered.

the map will play endlessly until you decideto quit. also, you’re still able to just pick upany of these pickups, like the health, the shotgun, or grab this ammo.everything else works as normal, just as those few minor differences that i mentioned.let’s jump back into the map editor here. with that all taken care of, let’s turnour attention to our grass here just for a moment.you’ll see we’ve just got lots of grass all over here, but also inside our buildingshere you’ll see we’ve got grass growing up through the floor.you don’t really want that, and we’ve also potentially got grass growingup through some of our props and stuff here.

so, let’s go into our terrain tool and we’vegot our add vegetation right here. let’s see. i’ve got three types of vegetationalready on my pallet and i’ve got some empty slots.just using the directional buttons once again, i can increase my radius so we’ve got anice big circle here. let’s just start by pressing the l2 buttonand just getting rid of all of this grass and vegetation that we have in the way here.let’s just get it out of the way. most of these trees are ok.let’s reduce our radius just a bit. let’s get rid of some of these trees here.all right, cool, i think that looks pretty good.that’s enough cleared space for now, but

now we can see that our ground is just veryuniform, very green, exactly the same the whole way…nothing looks quite that pristine and perfect. so, we should add some dirt.go back to terrain tools, and this time to our paint texture tool.you can see i’ve got two textures already in my pallet and two open slots.i’ve got grass on the ground and i’ve got stone on the cliff up there.i’m just going to reduce my radius so i can get it nice and small here, so we’renot doing too much. let’s cut down the speed by quite a bitbecause we don’t want it to just go down solid instantly, and our hardness and distortion...let’s just give it a nice kind of feathered

edge so that there’s not a hard line wherethe two textures transition from one to the other.i’m just going to select one of my empty slots here and go down and find some nicedirt to use. here we go,dirt and rocks here in this one. that looks good,so we’ll grab that. i’m just going to start over here. you’llsee if i paint down and just get a nice little patch of rocky dirt, let’s get rid of that for now. i’m going to start by painting some of thisaround our objects, so we’ll start with the rock here.it just helps it kind of stand out from the

rest of terrain, just gives it a little bitof pop by adding some rocky dirt here around it.increase my radius again by a little bit and come over here to our building, so you’rejust going to want to use your logic for where you’re going to be placing your dirt.anywhere with people around, so around buildings and objects, especially right in front ofdoors, anywhere where there’s going to be foottraffic and people moving around, tearing up the grassand all of that. you’ll want to add in some dirt here.there’s another door, so we’ll add that and make a little path coming out from thatdoor and here at the base of the ladder as

well.ok, there we go.once again, over here too at the garage, we’ve got vehicles, and vehicles as they drive inand out are going to tear up that grass as well.so we’ll throw in some dirt and rocks here, make that look nice and roughed up. we’ll go around the perimeter of the buildingas well. we’ve got a door here at the back, so we’llmake sure that gets a bit of dirt, and let’s even put a little path out from that dooras well. there we go, nice and quick.let’s also put a path in the front where

the vehicles themselves have actually drivenin and torn up that grass. cool, there we go. let’s move onto our next building here.we’ve got the bottom of the stairs and the door here.put a bunch of dirt there. we can go under here, around our boxes and around our turret.get some more around the perimeter of this building, and once again around our objectsthat we’ve placed here, around our pallets and the like.in front of the door, just get all of this nice and roughed up.it just gives it a good lived-in look. ok, that building is pretty good.let’s do this pallet a little bit more.

let’s do this rock as well. once again,it just helps it pop out from the environment a little bit so everything doesn’t lookquite so bland. that’s pretty good, we’ve got a good amountof dirt around our objects. oh, we’ve missed the little shack here,so we’ll throw some dirt down under there. cool, ok.i’m going to reduce my radius a little bit. let’s create some pathways here, and now let’s just kind of rough up the area a little bit more, just kind of generallyaround the outpost. again, just giving it a nice lived-in lookjust makes it seem as if people have really moved around this area and actually existhere.

it’s not just a fresh, pristine environmentthat suddenly has a gunfight in it. going to make a little path here, a littlebit on the ledge. ok, cool.all right, i think there we have it.that’s about as much dirt, oh, let’s do another little bit here. let’s create apath out into the woods, a little bit more around here.all right, i think that’s going to do, so now let’s go back to our cliff texturehere. you can see we’ve got some tall cliffs herethat are still using a grassy texture, so we’ll come here and adjust this minimumslope parameter, and that means that it’s

only going to apply the texture to terrainthat is at least at a 20-degree slope now. you can see i’m painting here and addingthe texture so it will apply itself to these sharper parts, the more vertical parts ofthe cliff. any of the little bits that are a little flatternear the ground or near the top will not apply the texture.it gives you an easy way to paint down a cliff without accidently painting the ground orthe top of it in a way that you don’t want to.ok, now let’s go back and do some more vegetation.we’ll go back in here. you see i’ve got three. i've got grass, bushes, and trees.i’ll stick on grass right now, and i’ll

reduce my brush radius, nice and small.we’ll go in here and re-add the grass anywhere where we’ve got the nice open grassy spaces.over here, as well and just everywhere. you don’t want to paint the grass over topof our dirt texture over here. we want to make sure that we can see the dirtthrough the grass, but if you get a little grass on the dirt, that’s no big deal. it’s all good, helping making it look morenatural even if you miss some green areas with the grass, that’s fine as well.it doesn’t need to be exactly right, we just want to show that we’ve got grass wherethe grass texture is, and not where the dirt texture is.you can see we also have some grass growing

through this cliff texture i don’t wanteither. grass does not go through stone. we’ll quickly get rid of that as well. makethat look a little more normal. oops, just accidently got a rectangle brush.i’m going over bushes and just keep filling in our open space here just now with somegrass and bushes, a little bit different. we’ll go around the outskirts with our busheshere, go along our path a little bit here, once again filling in any of these areas.we got nice vegetation all over our map. ok, now we’ll do trees, switch up, and putthese trees kind of back over here, where the forest was.add some more over here, more dense over here as well.that looks pretty good. we have a good amount

of trees, a good amount of grass and bushesand stuff, and we have avoided the dirt. we’re good now. i’ll show you if i selectthe trees that i’ve already placed here in my palette, i’ll go in here and selectsomething different. let’s select these red trees here, and nowyou’ll see that all those trees that i had previously put in place have changed to thenew palette, but as you can see, this red does not reallywork, so i’m going to undo that, but that’s just a really easy way to quickly change anyof the vegetation you’ve placed. you can try some different looks without toomuch work. remember that we placed these couple guyshere in our first wave. they exist right as

soon as the map starts.we also have our reinforcements over here, gray mannequins that will spawn when the alarmis rung, but we can also add something else prettycool, which are our vehicle reinforcements. let’s go back in our add ai and scroll allthe way to the bottom. we’ve got a bunch of vehicles here from which to choose from.these are vehicles that spawn with enemies and ai already in them and are all ready togo, so you don’t have to worry about them finding a vehicle to use.i’m going to put one of these guys here, and it’s really important to orient vehiclereinforcements in the direction you want them to drive right away,so that they don’t have to re-orient themselves

after they spawn. now, the next thing we wantto put in is a road for our vehicle guy here, so under terrain, we’ve got our road tool.we’ve already got one set up in our palette, so we’ll make a nice road for this guy tocome along the path. we’ll start here at the garage. if i holddown the r2 button, i can draw this first segment of my road. after that, i just needto tap the r2 button wherever i want to next node for the roadand it will automatically connect it to the nearest one.you see as i added this road through the woods, it removed the trees that were there. that’sbecause no vegetation can exist on a road, so you have to worry about avoiding it. also, using the r2 button you can move these points

like this, or add a new point in the middlewith the r2 button as well. i’ll give those a little adjustment, a smooth-lookingroad. as i move it, you can see the vegetation underneath is removed.now, just like for vegetation, we can go in the one that’s already set up and give ita new look and it will just automatically update with that.there’s no need to replace the road or adjust it. it will get the new look just like that.we’ll change it here to this footpath. as you can see, it’s all set up.you can try a bunch of different looks. now i want to show you our modifiers, which aresome pretty cool things we have added to really change up the way that your map worksand the things that the player can do within

the map you’ve made. i’ll go into it here,in edit map. i can change the player’s inventory, whichincludes the weapons that will spawn into the map, melee, throwable, empty slots, whateveryou want, really. i’ll assign them the stealth rifle here.you can also change up their skills. we’ll leave that basic. we’ll also turn on infiniteammo here. there are lots of cool modifiers to check out, so definitely make sure yougo through them when you’re working on your map.let’s look at the editor settings right here and go in. we can modify our camera speedand scroll, turn on/off lots of things. let’s show you the navmesh here. i’m going tostart with the character.

we’ve got this blue plane that gets puton here that displays everywhere that npcs can go. up the stairs, inside the building, and all over. anywhere you see a dark line is where theplayer and npcs will not be able to go, so we’ll switch over to vehicle.you can see the space is given around all the objects is a bigger space. you want tomake that sure vehicles don’t hit objects. i’m going to do group select. make surei grab both these objects and move them around. if we give it a second, the navmesh will automaticallyupdate, so there’s no need to worry about telling him to do that.it will make sure your navmesh is updated as it should be. i’ll turn that off now.another cool thing we have for you to add

are animals. if we go back to add ai here,we have animals and allies. move down and grab animals.once again, there’s just a ton of different animals that we can pick from while doingthis. let’s start here, with some chickens. chickens are pretty cute, everybody likesthose. drop a couple of these guys here around theenvironment. now let’s drop in an attack dog. we’ll put it over here next to thisguy and give him a little twist. what else do we have? we have the honey badger.let’s go drop the honey badger over here in the woods because honey badgers don’tcare. it’s a good place for him. let’s see whatelse we can do. we have this cage in this

shack. let’s put an animal inside that cage, something vicious. here’s a leopard. these guys are prettywild. i’ll put him here in the cage. there we go. good stuff! with our animals in place,we want to put in something a little different. we’ll go over here in animation points.we’ve got some different animations here, but i want to choose one for animals.now i have to choose specific locations where animals and characters are going to go andperform an animation. let’s do one for the attack dog. let’sput it here and give it a bit of a rotation, and then you’ll see that the little arrowthat points where the character is, face when they’re actuallygoing to use this animation point. now let’s

go down to find some for characters.we’ve got this “sit ground with eat and drink” here,so let’s drop it right here next to this guy for him.let’s put one up here on the roof for this guy as well.let’s do this “taking pictures” one. give him a little twist there, so he’s facingout from the roof. i’ll select it here and i’m going to pressthe square button to get options. i’m going to go down to the animation pointoptions. here you have duration, which is how longthe character is going to stay at this point performing this animation.then we have the cooldown, which is how long

this animation point is unusable after ithas just been used. then the faction, of course, will determinewhether allies, enemies, or both, can make use of this animation point.we’ll come over here and we’ll make a couple of small adjustments to this one aswell. just give it a bit of a longer duration.ok cool, i think that’ll do nicely. ok, so that’s cool. we’ve got some animationpoints here for animals and for the npcs as well.that’s great. i’m just going to bring myself down a littlecloser to the ground here, then holding down the r3 button, i can pushup to go, then back in that explorer mode

we discussed earlier.here we are in the map. you can see that guy. let’s walk right over to that point, and there we go. he’s going to have a sit on the ground there.yeah, excellent… there you go. he’s got a bottle of beerand is just going to enjoy that by himself. there’s our dog. he’s also attached tohis idle animation point, so that’s great. how about this guy on the roof. it looks likehe’s decided that the machine gun is a more valid spot for him right now.that’s just fine. all right, perfect!i’m just going back to the map editor now. ok, and that’s it. congratulations, we havecompleted our first basic outpost!

what we want to do now is publish our maponline. to do that, we have to check our validationone more time. so, go here and take a look.you can see that we have met all the specifications. all those boxes are green,so we’re good to go. let’s go over here to publish and jump in.ok, so we’ll leave the name as it is. we can also give it a really simple descriptionfor some canned descriptions here. we’ll just select village, and then we’llpublish. publish is going to put your map up onlinefor other players to download via the map browser.i’m not going publish this particular map.

i don’t want it to go online right now.but yeah, that’s where you’ll be able to see your map work and enjoy your map.now let’s go ahead and play. here is our intro screen which will give youyour objectives, as well as outline the modifiers that you have activated.here is our outpost. let’s get this party started!thank you so much for joining me in this far cry 4 map editor tutorial.i sincerely hope that you’ve learned some cool stuff. i’m going to go out there andmake some awesome maps. thanks again. go ahead and have fun!cheers!
