i noticed jonathan lying on the field theremotionless. will i be the mom that her son collapsed anddied? a boy whose life hung in the balance . . . . the first shock, and there's no response.the second shock, there's no response. it was a 28 minute period of time there thathe had no oxygen. if you survive at the 20-inute mark, you'rea vegetable. . . . . and the comeback that defied the statistics. just nothing short of miraculous. well, welcome to the 700 club. this is a programyou'll hear about miracles. you'll hear stories
you don't get on the other news. and you'llhear some insights. we've got ron paul, not ron paul, but rand paul, the son of ron paul, who is going to be senator. paul is going to be with us today. ron luce of teen mania.and a lot of important stories. the recent egyptian uprising could mean trouble for israel.a new poll shows that more than half of the egyptian people want to overturn their country'speace treaty with israel. and that comes as mideast experts see warningsigns that egypt may even consider linking up with israel's archenemy. chris mitchellhas more from jerusalem. there are signs that longtime foes egypt andiran are drawing closer together. that would not be good for israel or the west.
we are a little bit worried. what we understandis that the new government of egypt, the government came out, the result of the revolution, andit's not the permanent government. it is trying to give the impression at least that theywould like to change the strategical alliance of egypt and to re-establish relations withiran. in 1979, egypt signed a peace treaty to becomethe first arab country to establish full diplomatic relations with israel. that's one reason whyiran broke off diplomatic relations with egypt. iran is considered as a natural enemy of egyptsince the interest of iran is to penetrate into the middle east, to create an islamicshia revolution, and to take over and to impose a regime, a shia regime, on every one of thecountries in the middle east.
experts say major islamic differences betweensunni egypt and shiite iran should keep the two apart. on the other hand, it would benefitiran, which is gaining influence in the middle east.â iran would like to have relations becauseit would give it a better standard, a better situation, in the region. despite their differences, islamic expertmoshe sharon told cbn news sunni and shiite muslims do share a common enemy: the jews."in islam, the idea is that before the end of days, before the coming of the islamicmessiah, all the jews should be exterminated. all of the jews should be destroyed." on theegyptian front, mazel says the growing influence
of the radical islamic muslim brotherhoodshould sound an alarm. they are preparing for a very important electioncampaign to take over as many seats as possible and maybe to get a majority or at least about40 percent and to be the most important political party. a muslim brotherhood takeover could lead tosharia law in the land and the end of peace with israel. it will be a disaster for egypt, a disasterfor egypt and a disaster for israel, a disaster for every country in the middle east, becauseit will encourage all the muslim brothers, the political parties in all the countriesto try to take over, even by force.
though some say many signs point to this radicalization, experts here still hope egypt's september elections won't be a victory for radical islam.chris mitchell, cbn news, jerusalem. it's a cauldron, ladies and gentlemen. andeverybody is applauding and saying, "oh, isn't this wonderful?" it's a strike for democracy.it's really no such thing, because the majority of the egyptians say, "we want to be governedby the koran, and we really would prefer sharia law." and this is a, well, like eighth centurytype of government. and it's not something that comports well with the modern world welive in. but these people are determined to impose it on the world. and first their country, and then all of us. lee webb has the rest of our top stories now from the cbn newsroom.lee.
pat, the republican presidential field for2012 has narrowed. mississippi governor haley barbour says he will not run. barbour sayshe lacks the, quote, "absolute fire in the belly" that is necessary for a campaign. buttexas representative ron paul announced that he will begin taking steps toward a run. paulis a favorite of libertarians and tea party supporters. he came in fifth in the 2008 iowacaucuses. the international monetary fund says the so-calledage of america is coming to an end. the group says china's economy will surpass the us economyfive years from now, much earlier than expected. columnist brett arends writes in market watch,"it provides a painful context for the budget wrangling taking place in washington, dc,right now, and it casts a deepening cloud
over both the us dollar and the giant treasurymarket." arends says america's global dominance has been benign, but many countries are concerned, because china does not share us respect for civil liberties and property rights, pat. i disagree with the columnist. i don't thinkhe knows what he's talking about, frankly. i've been to china on a number of occasions;and like it or not, china, with all their money, is still a third world country. theyhave hundreds of millions of people living in poverty. and i asked the head of povertyalleviation, "what is the definition of poverty?" he said, "it's 2,000 calories of food a day,"which, imagine that was your diet, and it's rice or something like that. and the numberis something in the neighborhood of 75 to
80 dollars a month in money. they have a lotto do. and i think the chinese are trying their best to get all the natural resourcesthey can get their hands on. they're buying up property wherever they can. they're tryingto get hold of copper and gold and oil and timber and whatever they can get. you can'tblame them, because they've got a growing economy. it's a remarkable thing they've done.but i'm not exactly sitting at home quaking in my boots waiting for them to take over.they will one day outstrip the united states, but it's a long way in the future, unlesswe totally continue the squabbling that goes on up there right now in washington. lee. pat, the us supreme court will not place virginia'slawsuit against president obama's healthcare
law on the fast track. the justices rejectedthe request by virginia attorney general ken cuccinelli to resolve questions about thelaw's constitutionality. the obama administration had argued the case should work its way throughthe appeals process first. but jordan sekulow at the american center for law and justicesays this will have a major impact on states. now that the law is starting to go into effectand the full implementation is in 2014, states are also having to spend millions of dollarsbeginning to comply with that. and governor mcdonnell in virginia said one reason he hadhoped that the supreme court took this on a fast track was that he's going to have tospend millions of taxpayer dollars just in virginia to start implementing the individualmandate, which is the legal issue here.
the case against obamacare could still reachthe us supreme court by next summer. president and mrs. obama encouraged childrento do yoga at this year's white house easter egg roll. it was part of their healthy livingtheme. they set up a yoga garden on the white house lawn and brought in professional yogainstructors. the president challenged the children, saying, quote, "i want you to seeif you can do some yoga." many christians are critical of yoga because of its hinduroots. the yoga incident comes after the president failed to issue easter or good friday proclamations.the white house press secretary laughed when reporters asked him about it. he pointed outthat mr. obama attended easter services with his family. pat.
one more outrage from the white house fora man who purports to be a christian. he had a special proclamation for eid. he had a specialproclamation for ramadan. he had a special proclamation for other muslim holidays. hehas tipped his hat to various groups. but nothing to celebrate the most holy day ofchristianity, which is the death and resurrection of jesus, good friday and easter sunday. andhe says he wants to bring in hindu culture for the children to practice hindu rituals.and that's what yoga is. his insensitivity is just sort mind boggling. well, he doesn't get it. and people who thinkthat he isn't really one of us, in a sense, they're right. he comes from a fringe in chicagoof people who are, i don't know, they were
pretty much opposed to this country. his wifesaid this is the first time she had ever been proud of her nation. up to this time, shehadn't been proud. she's proud now that her husband is president, but up to that timeshe was taught really that she shouldn't be proud of america. yes. it's not just the insensitivity of himpersonally, either, it's that he and his staff don't seem to get it as far as the messagethat it sends when he does something like that. he has said before we're not a christian nation.he's said a number of things. and it's an insult to christians. and he talked aboutpeople who had god and guns and lived in the
backwoods. he's got a long history of notgoing along with what we consider the mainstream of america. but we'll see what happens. thereis an article in the wall street journal today that the big money people are starting toturn their checkbooks to the republicans. but who the candidate is going to be remainsto be seen. well, coming up, he's the doctor turned darlingof the tea party. and he's got a prescription to clean up washington. kentucky senator randpaul joins us live, so don't go away. got a question for pat? send us yours nowon cbn.com. we'll bring it online with your questions from our live chat room, later ontoday's 700 club. attention, investors. now is the time to protectyour retirement accounts and investments.

for some new faces and a new revolution tohelp. the tea party is one of the most revolutionaryforces in politics today. millions of concerned americans are finding their voice throughthe movement. and one of the most prominent figures behind it all is rand paul, the freshmansenator from kentucky. he's determined to create a blueprint for a new america. frombank bailouts and bankrupt entitlements to borrowing billions from the next generation, senator paul has set out to take these problems head on and put an end to politics as usual.in his book, the tea party goes to washington, paul describes how fear over obama's big governmentagenda spurred the tea party movement. he says the tea party is unique because it'sindependent and critical of both the democrat
and republican parties. a practicing medicaldoctor and ophthalmologist and son of texas congressman ron paul vows to use constitutionalconservatism to take back the halls of congress. and he has a message for washington: it'stime to tighten the belt because the people are taking the government back. well, senator rand paul joins us now . . . . . . . . from bowling green, kentucky. senator, welcome. it's a pleasure to have you with us. good morning. good to be with you. hey, listen, if you had a blank sheet of paperand you were going to write down what you
would do with the government, what would youput down on that piece of paper? what do you think needs to get done? well, i think government should behave likeindividuals. i think the same morality that applies to individuals should apply to government.and i think government should spend what it takes in. every family in america has to balanceour own family budget. we've gotten so far out of whack that i think it threatens oureconomy and threatens our country. and we've got to wake up and start doing what's rightin this country. and until we do, i'm fearful for the future. we've got a 1.6 trillion dollar deficit. whatdo you do to solve that?
well, basically, i think it's a spending problem.it's not a revenue problem. we still bring in a lot of money in taxes. we bring in over200 billion dollars a month in taxes. we're spending way too much. we now spend one outof every four dollars in the economy. it used to be one out of every five dollars, but thisincreased dramatically from the time president obama took office until now. spending hasincreased like twenty-something percent. i think it's close to 25 percent. so reallywe've got to do something about the spending, and ultimately that's where the answer is.we have to spend less. we also have to acknowledge and believe that the federal government isnot the answer to everything. many of us old fashioned conservatives, i think you wouldprobably be one of these, didn't believe that
education should be accomplished at the federallevel, that it really was a state and local issue. that's what ronald reagan believed.and there are many of us who still believe that, but we've become outnumbered even inour own party. and so things like education ought to go back to the states. again, if you need cutting, what would youcut? give me the three top things. i'd cut the department of education. i'd sendit back to the states. there is no reason for a federal involvement. i'd cut the departmentof energy significantly. i think i'd cut out a significant portion of the department ofagriculture in the sense that i don't think we should be subsidizing farmers who makeover 200,000 dollars a year, and some of them
make millions of dollars a year. i think thathousing should be something that's done locally. i think the federal government has destroyedmore houses than they've actually built. i think also that ultimately we have to lookat military spending as well, because we've doubled military spending in the last 10 years.and unless we look at the whole breadth and width of the budget, we can't balance it.that means also looking at entitlements. i proposed a fix for the social security system, which allows the age to gradually rise and then includes means testings on the benefits, and that will fix the social security system as well. you're in the tea party, but the mainstreamrepublicans, or the old guard or whatever
you want to term them, aren't too happy withthat, though. are you having a problem getting a consensus? well, i think some are unhappy with it. butthe interesting thing is, if you get a roomful of republicans who have been elected in washington, either in the senate or in the house, and you say, "are you for a balanced budget? doyou believe in limited constitutional government?" you'll get 100 percent agreement. the problemisn't in agreeing with the overall philosophy. the problem is when they start looking atthe details of the spending cuts, it's difficult for some of them to understand that you willhave to cut programs that people want. and until you're willing to do that, being fora balanced budget amendment is an empty promise
until you're willing to actually address thespecific cuts it would take to balance your budget. all right. what is your prognosis, doctor?what do you think? do you think the country is going to do it? will our elected officialsreally get down to business and do what's necessary? i'm fearful that it may take a crisis. i seeon the horizon, and i can't predict the future, but i see on the horizon a debt crisis whereit becomes increasingly difficult to pay our bills as a country, a foreign countries suchas japan, which had their own natural disaster, china, india, that have been buying our debtfor so long begin to buy less of it. interest
rates rise. and then we pay our debt by simplyprinting money. and that's already begun. you're already seeing food prices rise andgas prices rise. i think the next wave of our problem will be that we're going to havegreatly elevating price levels, inflation, and it will have a recession with inflationlike we had in the 1970s. maybe then the politicians will wake up. right now, there's not enoughof us in washington to fix the system, because the president opposes us on every turn. andeven all the republicans aren't yet serious about cutting spending. do you see anybody emerging who might be theleader of the republican party into the presidential election?
well, i'm related to a guy that might be running,so i might be a little biased when that comes. you're obviously a little biased on that one.okay. yes. well, the one thing is that amazes meabout my father is back in 2002, 2003 he stood before the banking committee, and when barneyfrank was up there trying to encourage everybody to have a home even if they had no down paymentfor a house, my father stood up and said, "you're leading the country towards a hugehousing bubble, and when it ruptures, it will cause a great recession." he predicted thatfive years in advance of that. on the other side, we have people like bernanke and geithnerwho didn't predict it coming, who have been wrong and really have been part of the problem.those are the people we have rewarded with
high ranking jobs in our government. i thinkit might be better if someone like ron paul who predicted the problems were to take aplace in our government. last question about you. it's quite a sacrificeto give up a booming practice of medicine, ophthalmology, to serve government. do youhave a chance to do any practice at all? i do a little bit. the senate will not letme do it and bill anyone. so it's a little bit harder to run a business if you can'tbill anyone. but i still do some things through the lion's eye clinic. i do free clinics withthe lion's club. and in a couple of weeks we'll do a free day of surgery that we doevery year, and i'll be performing some surgery for free in about two weeks.
well, we wish you the best. and your book,i hope it's doing well. it's called the tea party goes to washington, rand paul. and he tells them it's not a scary group.it's a group that loves america and wants to see this a better place. thank you verymuch. thank you. senator rand paul from kentucky. terry. fascinating. well, still ahead, one minutehe was playing baseball. the next, he was nearly brain dead. you need to know that he has very little chanceat all to have a brain. it's basically impossible
that someone could go this long without oxygenin their brain and ever function. see how this teenager defied the impossible.that's later on today's 700 club. do you take fish oil? there's an omega-3 supplementthat's better than regular fish oil. staying healthy, it's not easy. i exerciseregularly and eat lots of fruits and vegetables. i used to take a fish oil supplement too,but then i discovered something better than regular fish oil. arctic wonder omega-3 krilloil. it's from the makers of one-a-day, so i know i can trust it. the omega-3's in arcticwonder, both support heart health and are scientifically proven to be better absorbedthan regular fish oil. you'd have to take six of these fish oil soft gels to get thestrength of just two arctic wonder soft gels.

well, every spring, the staff of cbn and regentuniversity come together for a special time to pray for you, our partners. we call itour week of prayer. and yesterday, pat spoke to all of us on how to approach god with ourrequests. what god wants us to do is to understand whohe is. he wants us when we come to him in prayer to talk to somebody who is absolutelyable to do everything. not partly able, totally able. not only able and willing, he wantsto do good things for you. he's a good god. he is a god who loves us. and he just waitsfor his children to come to him in faith. we've got people from all across america whohave sent in their prayer requests. just hold these up before the lord. "father, we liftbefore you the prayer requests of our people.
we ask, lord, that you might listen to them.you heard them. you saw them as they wrote these requests down. you know what's in theirheart. you've heard their cry. god, they need help, help that only a gracious father cangive them. and we pray, lord, right now, that the anointing of the holy spirit might comeupon them, in the name of jesus. may your prayers be answered. may you know and answer, and may you be blessed by the lord of hosts, in jesus' name. amen. well, all this week, we're going to be prayingfor you each day during this show, as well as during our noon prayer chapels. many ofyou have already sent us your prayer requests. i think at this stage we have 75,000 prayerrequests that have come in. if you haven't
sent yours, you can still call us with a prayerrequest at 1-800-759-0700. or log on to cbn.com. we'd love to hear from you. we'd love to bepraying for you. god answers prayer. believe me, he answersprayer. we'll be praying for you in just a moment. but first, we want to show you howprayer helped the aldy family, who saw their son jonathan collapse dead on a baseball field. it was a hot day in hattiesburg, mississippi.baseball practice was in full swing. sixteen-year-old jonathan aldy had just run to second base, when suddenly, he collapsed. his father, dennis, who was also his coach, stood just steps away. i just glanced over towards shortstop forno apparent reason, was just looking around
the bases, and i noticed jonathan lying onthe field there motionless. spectators thought jonathan had fainted fromthe heat. one of the player's moms, who was a nurse, walked over to check out the situation. he's lying on the ground there, and she beginsto do mouth to mouth. and she was instructing me in chest compressions. jonathon's heart had stopped beating. manypeople, including his brothers, started praying. my sons were there, kneeling there on thebaseball field around him, just crying out to the lord, "lord, heal jonathan," and weepingand crying at the same time. dennis was also praying.
"bring him back, lord, bring him back." somy heart was just devastated. the paramedics arrived about 10 minutes intothe ordeal. the ambulance is there, and they're shockinghim. the first shock, and there's no response. a second shock, there's no response. so onthe third shock, i think a heartbeat of about 30 beats per minute appears, and they instantlyput him in the ambulance, and we're rushed to the hospital. it was a 28-minute periodof time there that he had no oxygen. jonathan's mother, dara, met them at the emergencyroom. i'm a mother of seven, so what was on thealtar first was, "will i be a mom of six? will i be the mom whose son collapsed anddied?"
the doctors prepared dennis and dara for theworst. twenty-eight minutes without breathing. thereare no statistics past 20 minutes of cpr in an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. if yousurvive at the 20-minute mark, you're a vegetable. you're sustained with life support, and youmay or may not go home. it was the next day after he was in the intensivecare that a neurologist came by. and her story was actually, "we'll believe that god cando something, but you need to know that he has very little chance at all to have a brain.it's basically impossible that someone could go this long without oxygen and their brainever function." dennis and dara run a prayer ministry calledthe international house of prayer of hattiesburg.
on the ball field when jonathan collapsed,at the hospital, and at the ministry headquarters, people across the city prayed around the clockfor their son. every three hours we got to go in to the icu.and i anointed him with oil every time i went back there. and i was big enough i could havepretty much reached his body and from his head to his toe. i just prayed for him, "lord, life. we speak life into this boy's body, into our son's body." soon they began seeing answers to their prayers. after 30 hours of being unconscious, jonathanwoke up and he looked at us. at first his eyes did not track us. he was just kind ofglazed.
and so at that 40-hour mark was a time whenwe were back there and his eyes were open. and he actually focused on me, because i wouldgo in and i would get directly over his face right there, and i would say, "jonathan,"because as a father, i wanted him to know his dad's here. and so i finally said, "jonathan,if you hear me at all, smile at me or something." and he attempted a smile, and, oh, his momand i just bawled, wept at the joy that jonathan was in there. within days of the incident, jonathan beganto improve. on day three, they allowed him to try to walkin the icu there. and so he got up, walked about 10 steps around in a circle and cameback down. and the doctors thought that was
incredible. by now, people all over the country were prayingfor jonathan. we were seeing him do things that the doctorsaid he couldn't do for months or years or maybe never. by day five, all the tubes were out, everything.he was totally unhooked and walked around the cardiac care unit, the ccu, and the doctorscouldn't believe that on day five, after such an event, that he was walking around. on day 10, jonathan went home. i believe that jonathan was not only sparedthe effects of not breathing for 28 minutes
or not having a heart beat, he was sparedbrain damage and organ damage, but he was healed of whatever caused it. so it was liketwo miracles, because they could find absolutely nothing wrong with him. still the doctors recommended he should notplay sports for a while. in my life, i love sports. i love the competitivenessof sports and all. within six months, jonathan returned to playingbaseball and basketball. even the people that make it out of the hospital, some of those have neurological damage. they're never quite the same after that, but to seejonathan playing drums, driving down the road, it's just nothing short of miraculous.
the aldys believe that god heard their prayersand healed their son. through this experience, my biggest thingsare the preciousness of life, obviously, the reality of a god who is in charge and doescare. the biggest lesson is, in my opinion, thatgod loves me and that god cares for me, and that my friends and my family love me, andthat my friends and family care for me. but there are moments where my heart returnsto the miracle and the gift that god gave us when he returned jonathan back to us, andjust overwhelming gratitude to the lord, just his goodness enveloping me. prayer changesthings. prayer changing things, overwhelming gratitudeto the lord. as i said before, in my humble
opinion, that's dead. when you don't havea brain. twenty-eight minutes. twenty-eight minutes, you've got no oxygen.that's dead. but god said, "no, no, no, he's not dead. he's going to be alive, and he'sgoing to be well. he's going to be healed." now, folks, it's time to pray for you. webelieve in god. we believe in a god who does miracles. now, somebody said, "i need a financialblessing, and i need spiritual strength." somebody has, "ask full recovery of healingfor prostate surgery." i had that and i know how it is. "healing of immune system and gumdisease." what else do you have? and this is someone saying, "i need healingof a severely infected toe, and from diabetes,"
which i'm sure is involved in that. someoneelse saying, "i need to be delivered from severe anxiety and panic attacks." and someonesaying, "please pray for healing of a liver or to receive a transplant." there is no situation that is too hard forgod. he is god almighty. and i was ministering to the people yesterday, he's the great iam. and he is there for any problem, any disease, any sickness, any financial problem, any emotionalproblem, whatever it is. now, i'm going to ask you, as we join together, i want you toask the lord with us, i want you to lay your request before the lord. and we have, as terrypointed out, about 73,000 requests that have come in. and just a sampling of them are herebefore us, so we're going to symbolically
be praying for them as well. so we're joininghands in jesus' name. "in jesus' name, may the power of the holy spirit of god come outand touch you now." in jesus' name, liver disease is being healed right now. liver disease,a spot on your liver. the lord is healing it right at this moment. prostate cancer isbeing healed, in the name of jesus. a lesion in your lungs. just put your hand over yourchest in the name of jesus and receive an answer. thank you, lord. a throat. there'sa swelling in your throat, and you're having a hard time swallowing right now. just touchyour throat. in jesus' name, you're healed. someone named ruth, you're praying for a physicalcondition. you've had it for many, many years. god is healing that for you right now. someoneelse, you have chronic, chronic allergy sinus
related problems. and god is healing that.you're just going to feel almost like a buzzing sensation in your face and your sinus cavitiesas god touches you now. somebody is shaking. you're having shaking.i don't know if you have parkinson's or palsy. you shake. but i don't think that's what thatis. but whatever it is, you're just shaking all over, like you're cold. god right nowis healing that, whatever the problem is. he's taking the disease away and he's takingsatanic power away. and satan, in jesus' name, you spirit of infirmity, we bind you and wecommand you to leave people now, in jesus' name. someone else with anxiety attacks. they justcome upon you when you least expect it. god
is healing that condition for you and justbringing a peace and serenity to your heart and to your mind. lord, we bless the name of the lord, and webless you now. now, lord, let the peace of god descend upon the audience. may they havepeace like a river, in jesus' name. amen. wherever you are, please give us a call. tell us what god has done. if you need furtherprayer, and it's not too late to get your prayer requests in. the staff takes theserequests as we're praying. people are praying under the trees. it's pretty out there. yes. it's beautiful out there.

and with great results. he's the presidentand founder of teen mania, a christian youth organization that reaches millions of youngpeople worldwide. he challenges teens to take a stand for christ in their schools, theircommunities, and throughout the world. he urges adults to keep praying for those teensas they work to reach their generation. please welcome back to the 700 club the presidentof teen mania ministries, ron luce. it's great to have you back. great to be back, terry. thanks. you have three children of your own. you havegot a teenager at home still, a couple of kids in their early 20s. you say that kidstoday, young people today, are faced with
some things that past generations have notbeen faced with. what do you mean by that? well, one of the biggest challenges is allthe technology and for all the good that it's doing. it's invading them every time a parentbuys a gadget for a kid. it's not just the gadget. they just bought a pipeline for content.and it might be a sewage pipeline, really, whether it's through their phone, whetherit's internet, or whether it's a tv in their bedroom. there are all kinds of differentways that media gets to our kids. and much of it, parents don't really understand thevalues that their kids are being submerged in and the hours and days the kids are submergedin this. and so as a result parents are losing influence, and churches are losing influence, because just the amount of time.
and in a lot of those things, ron, you'reso right about that. i hear parenting experts say on tv, "well, parents need to monitorwho their children are in touch with and who they're talking to." and i'm thinking, "you'vegot to be kidding me." that's more than a 24-hour-a-day job. once you are opening thosedoors, it is like another whole world comes into your child's life. and i encourage parents, if they give thesegifts of technology, that they need to give it with strings attached. for example, "ifyou're going to have a facebook, i'm going to be your first friend, and i'm going tobe on there all the time. i'm going to know who you're friends with." and they'll to say,"that's weird." i did it with my own kids.
"well, fine, you don't have to have one, then." exactly. but i'm going to be in there. and if you havean ipod, i'm going to see what music is on there. i'm going to keep watching it. we'regoing to have some guidelines. and so you don't just give them something and just letthe world just feed them whatever they want. you can't control all the culture, but youcan control the culture in your home. what are some things that parents need toknow that they might not know? well, i tell you, kids, of course, don't usephones for talking. they use it for texting and all the other, if it's web-enabled, allthe things they can get to. and i would also
just encourage parents to know that you canhave a much bigger influence. just because your kid is 13 and they're insisting, "well,i want to do this," there's no constitutional amendment that says they get a phone whenthey're 13 or whatever. and so you can have the power to say no. and we want to be friendswith our kids, but you need to be a parent first and guide the influences that are speakingand shaping them, whether that's the friendships or whether that's the media that's somehowworking its way into your kid's purview. one of the ways that i think parents hopethat they're making that kind of an indent in their children's life is by having themattend church, maybe be a part of the youth group. but i think it's a time where, i knowi've asked of the lord myself as a parent
how do i help my children become passionatefor you? you can go through the rote. a lot of us have done that in our own lives. butyou need like that moment with the lord that just calls you to a deeper place. how do youhelp your kids get there? well, even our own kids, raised in churcharound godly stuff, been to a lot of events that you saw the clip of. sometimes it's the hardest for the kids whohave been to a lot of stuff. yes. and we prayed, "god, you really needto grab a hold of their hearts." and one of the ways we encourage parents is to get theirkids on a mission trip while they're young, when they're 13, 14, 15 years old. get themout of the selfish kind of "me centered" christianity,
give their life away. something happens whenthey go for two weeks or for a month or for two months where, "it's no longer mom anddad's faith; it's my faith. i'm having to connect with god, and i'm learning to prayand have quiet times. there are sick persons there that i'm having to pray for, or gettingto pray for that person." there is just nothing like a 13 or 14 year old leading their veryfirst person to jesus. and they're laying in bed at night going, "i can't believe it."they're in a village somewhere, maybe, and they're, "god used me, and i'm 14, and thatguy is going to heaven. and if he could do this with me when i'm 14, what could he dothrough me the rest of my life?" isn't that what we want every kid in america to be thinkingabout? not when is the next cd coming out
or whatever. and so it extracts them fromthe culture here long enough, almost like a detox for your heart and for your soul,so they can really grab a hold of the lord and then begin to share their own faith. andwe teach them how to do that on these global expedition trips that we go on. you're known for that. you specialize in that,in giving children, young people, that opportunity to discover who they are and who god is inthem. what does that look like when they go on a trip like this with teen mania? well, of course, there are 25 different countriesthey can choose from. this summer we're actually partnering with operation blessing in bothperu and in the philippines, where they will
meet up with a team in texas and we have leadersthat we screen from all over america, some from right here at regent university. andtheir young person is constantly with a young adult, whether it's a college aged studentor somebody that's older. they'll learn drama. they'll learn other evangelism tools. they'll go out, for example, in the philippines.they will be working on the dump where people actually live and they scavenge through thingsto eat or to find things to sell and that kind of thing, ministering to the childrenthere, be working with some medical clinics and so forth with operation blessing, somefeeding programs there. and so they're sharing their faith four and five, six times a daywhere we're doing drama and ministry presentations.
they might go to orphanages and prisons orhospitals. it just depends on the age of the kid. so they're forming relationships, really, with people that are in need. absolutely. yes, they are. how do you see this change kids? oh, it is absolutely amazing. they come back, and first of all they realize, "my life isn't just about fun. it's about something eternal.god wants to use me. i have purpose." and you can say the word destiny, and they'llglaze over. when you get them out there and they realize that, "god used me to be a partof something supernatural, they're just never
the same again." they come back and they cansee through the lies all the teen culture crams down their throat, "you should likethis or this should be important to you," when you realize you've just seen people inpoverty that had no way to find christ, and you got to be a part of them going to heaven, and it really helps them to steer clear without parents having to say, "now, don't you dothat anymore." they make smart decisions for their own. in fact, parents have told me,"when my kid came back from one of your mission trips, it was like the missing ingredientin my parenting." wow! they're good kids. they love god. but jesuscame alive to them and purpose came alive
in them. and so it's really a step of faithto trust your kid into the hands of god to go to some other country. but isn't that whatwe need to be doing anyway? absolutely. to have them grow up in the lord.absolutely. well, for more information on teen mania and ron luce's acquire the fireministry . . . . . . . . log on to cbn.com. they're doing lotsof wonderful things, and i know it will be a blessing to the children in your life. thankyou so much. it's exciting. we'll have to hear what happens after you go on these trips.that's wonderful. pat. well, we really appreciate ron luce. it'sa great ministry for teenagers; and man, the effect on those kids is forever. it's eternal.well, still ahead, we're going to bring it
on with your questions from our live chatroom. so don't go away. my name is roger stump, and i'm a cancer survivor.the surgeon said it's inoperable. it's already in your liver. my wife brenda sat there andcried; and i'm thinking, "i can't die right now. i'm only 52 years old." i was so distraught.i've heard cancer treatment centers of america have experience with pancreatic cancers. itwas like night and day. the hospital just breeds an environment of hope. you get a ctscan, and the next morning the results were read to you. we'd go up there; i just knewit was going to be a good result. you could just see the joy on dr. granik's face. call now and we'll show you how the most compassionatepeople anywhere put you at the center of everything
we do. together, we'll explore real treatmentoptions you may not even know exist. cancer treatment centers of america. it issuch a different place because they give you hope. i would strongly urge you to call themand get a second opinion. please call today. well, last year tropical storm agatha struckthe coast of guatemala. it soon became one of the deadliest pacific storms on record.one boy and his family survived the storm. but they lost everything they owned. ten-year-old israel knows the exact spot onthe riverbank where his home once stood. he remembers the hurricane, the flooding river, and the mudslides.
that really made me very, very sad. israel's grandparents lost their home, too. we lost most of our material belongings. butthank god no one in our family died. before the disaster struck, israel loved helpinghis grandfather with extra chores around their small farm. and he didn't mind that his grandfathergave him a few coins for his hard work. i like to work helping my grandpa. he's verykind to me. but it's what israel does with the money heearns that makes him a hero. every time he gets paid, he gives half of his earnings tohis mother to help her buy food for the family. i feel so proud and happy to have a son likeisrael. he is such a blessing to us.
of course, when the disaster struck, the greatestneed for israel and his family was to find a new place to live. that's where operationblessing provided some help. in a location far from the river, we were able to securesome land and there built 20 new sturdy wooden homes. the sadness is gone now because i have a newhouse. in fact, israel, his parents, and grandparentsagree. the new houses are better than the adobe ones they lost during the storm. we are so thankful to operation blessing forthis new bigger house. i want to say god bless you all. we are very happy.
look around your house. look what you've got.look at the furniture. look at the rugs. look at the draperies and the utensils thatyou eat off of. and then you think of that shack down there and think of those peoplebeing so grateful that they've got something like that to live in. well, the rest of the world does not havewhat we have. not even close. and if we are going to enjoywhat god has given us, the thing we've got to do is to show we love somebody else. that'sthe best way we can say thank you to the lord is when we say thank you to help somebodyelse. and it's not that you can't enjoy things, but i think all of us need to share. we havesomething i want to give you. it's called
the law of expectation, for those of you whojoin the 700 club. now is the time to do something. we've gotstuff going on all around the world, all around the world. sixty-five cents a day, and youcan make a difference in somebody's life. so call right now, and say, "look, you cancount on me. you can count on me. i'm going to share with some of those folks that don'thave it quite as well as i do." all right. questions. okay, we have some questions from our chatroom. let's go for it. marie says, "yesterday, you said we pray tothe father in the name of the son using the
power of the holy spirit. i'm catholic. wheredoes mary fit into all this?" god bless you, dear lady. i hate to get intoa squabble with my catholic friends. and i know the prayers, "hail mary, full of grace, blessed is the fruit of thy womb, jesus. hail mary, full of grace, blessed is the fruitof thy . . . ." and you say it over and over and over again. yes. i was raised catholic. yes. yes. but the truth is, when jesus washere on earth, he said, "those who obey my father are my mother and my father and mybrothers and sisters." he said, "i am above family relations now," because he's god. wesay "mother of god." she's, in a sense, the
earthly mother of the earthly jesus, but sheisn't a mother of god. right. she was the chosen vessel of god forhis son. yes. blessed are thou among women. there is nowoman any more highly exalted than mary. but you said "in prayer." i'm sorry; i do notbelieve you pray to mary. i think you pray to the father in the name of jesus. i think mary, it says that her name will behonored, and rightly so. i mean, what an amazing woman! i thought as we were celebrating thewhole time before easter that her heart was broken by the place that god called her toin such an unbelievable way to see her son
treated like that. but i, as a catholic growingup, felt like when i realized i could go right into the throne room myself i admire maryand honor her, but i pray to jesus. you don't have to have her helping intercedewith her son. you remember they had no wine at the wedding feast. and they came to maryand they said, "mary, we've got no wine." so mary came to her son. and what does theson say? "woman, what have i got to do with you? what relationship do you think we'vegot that would make me do a miracle?" and then later on, he did it. but it wasn't becauseshe asked him, it was because the father said okay. all right. let's keep going. any how,we love people who disagree on things like this; and i think we need to be eager to maintainthe unity of the spirit and the bonds of peace.
and i think we need to love each other. allright. this is natali, who says, "you had a storyabout angels helping on a highway. i've had times when i needed an angel and called forone, but nothing happened. how do we get angels to appear in our lives?" well, there's this lantern. i've got in mybag. you rub on that. you say an incantation. and the genie comes out of the bottle. i don'tknow. i mean, ask. but we're not supposed to worship angels. we're supposed to worshipgod. and we talk to god, and if god chooses to send an angel—we pray here. we have atelethon. and i say, "lord, send the angels. send the angels."
well, many times they're there, and you don'tsee them. their invisible. well, people have seen angels in the studio.i don't know. but you don't summon angels. it just doesn't work that way. but peopleare praying, "oh, god, send somebody to help." and these are messengers sent to take careof the heirs of salvation. all right. what else? this is jennifer, who says, "why doesn't godalways heal? are there some health issues such as alzheimer's or cancer that god justcan't heal?" god can heal anything. and he does heal anything.and there are reports of people being healed of everything. why not? there are many ofus who lack faith. we lack faith. we have
faith for headaches. we have faith for tornmuscles. we have faith sometimes for cancer, but we might not have faith for somethingelse. it's just unfortunately that we don't believe god, because of your faith. god willdo anything if you believe him. this is debra, who says, "my children wereborn out of wedlock. are they condemned according to the bible?" heavens no. your children are precious ingod's sight. they're precious in god's sight. and when you look back at the bible and lookat the lineage of jesus, go back and see. and you'll find a lady named rahab. rahabwas a prostitute. yes. that's exactly what i was thinking ofas i read this question.
yes. here is the son of god and one of hisgreat-great-grandmothers was a prostitute. and who was the one who was close to her?mary magdalene, when he rose from the dead. god doesn't condemn people because of sexualthings, and certainly your children aren't going to have a problem. we've got time forone more question, i think. this is nancy, who says, "last week, i'vehad several dreams that i'm going to die. what do you think it means?" i think it means that you're being beset bysatan, and i think you need to bind the power that's bringing that evil upon you. peopleare having evil things brought upon them. you need to rebuke that and command it toleave you in jesus' name. thanks for those
questions. well, that's all the time we havefor today's show. tomorrow we've got the story of a father who accidentally ran over histwo-year-old son in his truck. we'll see how the child not just survived but walked outof the hospital. and these words from philippians . . . . "do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests togod." see you tomorrow. bye, bye. come on and cross over to the all new crosscountry radio from cbn.com. cross country: where country meets the cross.
